They can teach product knowledge and sales training, but it’s tough to maintain a sales reps performance if they don’t have the internal drive. This is a big reason why athletes translate well to sales. They love to win. They hate to lose. There will be times when they get knocked down and face rejection. There will be times when deals fall through. What makes a sales rep successful is how they respond and get back in the game. Competitive drive translates to achieving goals and rankings. This helps elevate everyone’s performance and ultimately makes the team better.
